Cragganmore House, Bed & Breakfast Accommodation

Cragganmore House

Set in a secluded glen, Cragganmore House has glorious views to the River Spey and across to Ben Rinnes. Situated in the heart of golfing and Malt Whisky country on the edge of the Cairngorm National Park, and beside the Speyside Way, this is an ideal location for exploring the many attractions of the breathtaking Highland and Moray regions.

Award-winning, resident chef, Tony Allcott, and his wife, Helen, have owned and run Cragganmore House for the past ten years. Together, they provide friendly hospitality and culinary delights in luxurious and historic surroundings, where attention to detail is second-nature. Parts of Cragganmore House date back to pre-Victorian times, but as the family home of John Smith, it was extended and improved to create a magnificent country house. John Smith was the foremost distiller of his time and figured greatly in the newly legal licensed Speyside whisky trade of the mid 19th Century, managing and running The Macallan, The Glenlivet, and Glenfarclas Distilleries, before founding Cragganmore Distillery in 1869. John Smith was related to both the Glenlivet and the Glenfarclas families, and was certainly a most prominent character, not only due to his 22 stone (140kilo) weight!

Today, Cragganmore House is a beautiful, family-run country house that has been lovingly restored to its former glory, and offers guests an unrivalled opportunity to step back in time, to a bygone era. The entire house is steeped in history, having been sympathetically and discreetly modernised, and is furnished throughout with antique furniture and objets d'art. There is attention to detail everywhere, and no effort has been spared to provide a luxurious, comfortable and spacious home from home atmosphere. Every room is beautifully appointed, while the piece de resistance must be The Turret Room, which is particularly suitable for romantic weekends.

There is something for everyone, for the whisky lover; tired traveller or weary walker; old fashioned romantic; or simply someone who loves comfort and luxury; a stay at Cragganmore House is like stepping into a dream, and it has to be seen to be believed!
